The inaugural Dummy Clap Film Festival kicks off Tuesday night with an old-school Hip Hop double-feature! First, we'll be screening the 1986 documentary Big Fun in the Big Town, which features appearances from Mr. Magic, Marley Marl, Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC and Jam Master Jay, LL Cool J, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, Russell Simmons, MC Shan, Schoolly D, Doug E. Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew, the Last Poets, and more. The screening will be followed by a Q&A panel with former Def Jam publicist Bill Adler (1984-1990), Fly Ty Williams, Ego Trip's Chairman Mao and more!
Leg Two of our double-feature will be a presentation of 1983's landmark Wild Style, regarded as the first hip hop motion picture. The film featured seminal figures of the era, such as Fab Five Freddy, Lee Quinones, Lady Pink, the Rock Steady Crew, The Cold Crush Brothers, and Grandmaster Flash. The film will be followed by another Q&A panel, this time with Wild Style's director Charlie Ahearn and special guests.

This will be the inaugural year of BHF’s own film shindig. The Dummy Clap Film Festival will screen and shed some light on not only films and documentaries about Hip-Hop culture but also filmmakers who embody Hip-Hop’s revolutionary spirit.
Day Two of the Dummy Clap Film Festival is taking place on Friday, July 13th, and will showcase submissions from independent filmmakers & music video directors. Then, a presentation of select screenings from Brooklyn writer/filmmaker Nelson George, followed by a discussion with Mr. George.
Friday presentations will be screened in DUMBO, Brooklyn, at ReRun Gastropub Theater, beginning at noon.
